Check Me Out as a Natural!

Lately I've been conjuring up images in my head of what I'd look like as a natural.  Then I stumbled across these old photos during spring cleaning over the weekend.

These shots were from a hair gig I did for a magazine back in the day. I was amazed that natural hair weaves even existed!  I remember the hair stylist looking at me like I was crazy when I told her.  But what can I say?  I was young and totally not up on my hair game.  I was completely oblivious.  I had never rocked a weave before.  I became so in love with this do that I kept it in for weeks after the photo shoot.

At this time, the thought of going au naturel never crossed my mind.  But now that I have these pics, I can show my hubby.  He can't seem to picture me with my natural hair.  It'll also serve as a reminder of the torture we endured when he helped me take this thing out.

I like the 3rd pic!!! The 1st and 2nd look a little Brandy-ish from back in the days. LOL I wonder how this look would be received on TV??

oh my goodness, Stacy-Ann . . . I 'm in Love ! ( don't tell our respective spouses! ... LOL). You were so hot ! And so pretty. Still are ! hey, I didn't get to read your last blog, just noticed the title - but here's my 2 cents: my wife stopped working after giving birth, and resumed once our youngest entered kindergarten. she wanted to be home for them during those important years, and you blink your eyes ( like we have) and they're grown. I keep pinching myself and ask myself how this happened. How did the time pass by so quickly ?! It seems like just yesterday I was coaching their Little League games. The time passes quickly, and you can't ever get it back. I'm not trying to make any judgement about this, there's certainly no right or wrong- you have to do what's right for you. And not working is obviously a significant financial sacrifice ( heck, we spent 11 years in a 1 bedroom apt w/ 3 kids, a sleeper couch and bunk beds- talk about sacrifice!) but the first few years are such wonderfully special years. Sorry this is so long- winded. Just my 2 cents.

Why can't you where the third picture in wig form? and integrate your own hair in the front. No heat, natural hair, no breakage. We need to talk for real.
This natural look suits you more, Miss Jamaica.

There's something so sweet about transitioning. It's almost like having a baby. It can be tough when it's happening but when it's born you kinda wish you could go back to the growing stage just to remember it again. I wore my hair in the twisted style in the beginning of my transition, like end of the first trimester and then again when my natural hair was a toddler before I let it lock(kindergarten)...now it has been locked about three years and I'm thinking when it gets to middle school I will chop it off and start over, just to do it again, just for the thrill! ;)

I love the analogy! I'm the same way. I compare my transitioning to a rebirth. I feel like I'm beginning life all over again. I'm getting to know myself in a whole different way. This time around I'm appreciating every curl. I took a break from going to the salon so that I can get to know my hair. It's also like being in a relationship. I'm courting my hair. lol. I can think of so many metaphors. Pretty nice. It took a while to get here. I'm glad I'm going through this journey.
