I say go ahead and Big Chop! You wear wigs to work anyway so you will still have that protective style to go to. I've been wearing my natural hair for 5 years now. I started my transitition wearing wigs for 18 months and then I big chopped and never looked back. My hair is bra strap length now and the healthy! I still wear wigs as protective styles every once in a while. My vote is for the big chop especially since you are losing more hair from breakage.

I actually thought you had done the chop when I first started the video! You look great either way. Since you have hair limitations for work and you readily wear wigs go ahead and chop off the relaxed ends.

Like the previous poster, I also thought you had already BCed when I first started the video! You look great and since you already wear wigs, if you BC, you won't look any different when you're at work. However, if you're still not ready to do it, just keep doing the mini chops to try to keep your hair as healthy as possible during your transition. I have also been transitioning for eight months. It started out going really well, but I have definitely been experiencing a lot more breakage the past few months (although my hair stylist isn't too concerned). My go to style is the bantu knot out and I'm happy with how my hair looks in that style. So, I'll probably continue to transition until I've at least made it one year. I love reading your posts. It's great to follow someone who started this incredible journey the same time I did!

Do it for the health of your hair so you can begin your journey, and for you career continue to wear wigs, weaves, braids until you see some growth. Then rock some twist out and braid outs!

Thanks so much for the advice. Your hair sounds like it's doing well. I think the chop will definitely help in the growth dept.

I know! When I look at the video clip, it looks like it. All I have left is a small clump of processed hair.

YAY! I'm glad your transitioning journey is going well. I'm already looking into hair accessories. Have you found any?

Thanks! That's exactly what I have in mind.

I say go for it since you are wearing wigs anyway. You will be happier in the long run. I am so proud of you for going through with this. You started just like that and here you are. I wish I was that bold. I plan on growing my hair relaxed to at least waist length before making any decision. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

As previous posters have said, I think you should do the BC. I was able to transition for 18 months before I cut off my relaxed ends, and my hair stayed pretty healthy throughout. However, I didn't have the job-related hair restrictions that you do, and I was able to keep my hair in braids, only needing to manipulate the two textures every 6-8 weeks or so. Since you've already experienced so much breakage, I think you should chop, and focus on the health of your new growth. It'll be awesome. Good luck!

Wow! That's pretty long. Have you noticed any breakage since delivering your kids?

That gives me a lot of hope. Thanks so much! I'll be making the decision this weekend. I can't wait to experiment with new styles.

You should go a head with the Big Chop. I transitioned for about a year before I cut off the relaxed ends.
