35 Weeks: Heading South

35 weeks pregnant

My baby is the size of a honeydew melon! With very little room to move around, he/she is now around five pounds. The doc says we're right on track, as far as development goes. Even though there are no more flips and turns, this baby definitely loves to move around. According to my latest sonogram, he/she is head first and will mostly likely remain in this position until the big day. How I'm feeling: I'm so excited. In just a matter of weeks our little bundle of joy will be here. Woo hoo! I can already feel this baby dropping. But with all this excitement, comes a little disappointment. I'm actually battling another cold. The good news is that I have enough time to nurse myself back to health before my due date. In the meantime, I'll be doing my best to stay active and continue getting everything ready for our baby boy or girl. Photobucket   Share

Check out what's in my hospital bag!

I've been down this road before. I'm the biggest procrastinator when it comes to packing for trips. But when it comes to d-day, I've got to be prepared. I packed everything under the sun the first time around, including sanitary pads, toiletries, diapers and snacks. But to my surprise, the hospital actually supplied us with tons of stuff. It would have been nice to free up some space in my suitcase. But, at least I was prepared. This time should be a lot more simple. I know exactly what to bring. Here are some of my must haves! What did you pack for D-day? Photobucket   Share

Giving My Husband an Eviction Notice

Do you remember this scene from Waiting to Exhale? Angela Bassett played Bernadine Harris, who goes nuts after finding out her husband has been having an affair with his secretary. I was about to get my Bernadine on the other day and evict my hubby. Not because my man cheated, but because he's been neglecting some important duties.

eviction notice

I gave him a list of things to do, including moving his clothes out of Princess's room and installing rods in his new closet. That was months ago! With only a few weeks left until D-day, I've got to get the kids room organized. I'll admit that I may be freaking out a tad bit. But, I'll be 36 weeks along in my pregnancy in a couple days. Before you know, this baby will be here and I won't be able to get things done. I can barely move as it is! After weeks of me bitching, he was finally able to clean out the closet and move his things in.

Now our kids will be able to have their own space, and I won't have to get my Bernadine Harris on his ass! Now I can exhale. How do you deal with a procrastinating spouse or significant other? Photobucket   Share

How I Knew I Met the One

Sometimes knowing you've met the one isn't always clear. At least it wasn't like that for me. Here's how I came to my senses. This is the 15 installment of my project, "30 Things I want my kids to know about me."

 the one 2

[caption id="attachment_1552" align="aligncenter" width="614"]When and how you know you've met the one When and how you know you've met the one[/caption] To be honest, I can’t remember the exact moment when I knew your dad was the one. But I do remember saying to him, “You’re perfect for me.” Maybe I always knew, but didn't want to admit it. We always enjoyed spending time together. We became best friends before we became lovers, which is the way it should be. He was kind, patient, and understanding. He did things that no one had ever done for me before. I remember when he surprised me with flowers at my dorm room in Spain. To this day, I don’t know how he was able to pull it off. Despite his chivalrous efforts, it took a while for me to realize that he was the one. I was used to dating the wrong guys, and going through drama. I was young and immature. But, I eventually snapped out of it and gave our love a try. If there’s any advice I can offer my children- it’s ok to open up your heart. Don’t get caught up in the superficial. Choose someone who respects you and loves you for who you are. Be sure to return that love and respect tenfold. I’m so glad I did. When did you know you met the one? Photobucket

Surviving Tantrums on Road Trips

Summer is almost here! With that said, I'm gearing up for my "Family Summer Fun" series. If you've been following my blog for a while, you probably remember last year's installments. We're less than two months away from D-day, and our little girl won't be the only child much longer. My hubby and I want to make sure we make these last few weeks extra special for her. It's gonna be a lot to cram in these next few weeks. I'm gonna try to do as much as I can, while getting as much rest as possible. Is that doable? I promised that I wouldn't beat myself up about not getting to everything because I have a lot on my plate. Summer classes begin this week, and we still have some things to do around the house before the baby arrives. So, we'll take it one day at a time. For now, here's a little preview of my next post. We took a trip to the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center this past weekend. It was a long trip, so it was important for us to pack some essentials in order to avoid possible meltdowns. 31 Weeks: I Finally Gave in!

31weekpreggers
My baby is about the size of four navel oranges. I wanted to get a little creative and do some juggling, but couldn't handle more that one at a time. How I'm feeling: It's been a very active week. In fact, it can be down right painful. I don't remember this many kicks and somersaults during my first pregnancy. According to my OB, this is all normal. It also makes me know that I have a pretty healthy and active little one in there. I can't say the same about my sinuses. I've been battling an infections since the beginning of the year, which I address in a BabyCenter post. I don't like the idea of taking meds during my pregnancy. But enough is enough. I've been accumulating spit tissues like crazy, and going through Saline like water. I had to give in. Hopefully, this infection goes away soon.
